Nathan Daniel Serrano is a 12-year-old student at Hartford Magnet Trinity Academy in Hartford, Connecticut. Nathan is a talented alto saxophone and piano player as well as a creative writer and artist, aspiring to become an architect one day.

Nathan has been playing Alto Saxophone since he was 9 years old. He is currently enrolled in the Brass Band, Piano Class and the Hartford Young Writers Class at Charter Oak Cultural Center. In previous years, he was also in our vocal ensemble, singing the hits of Nat King Cole. His passion for music and writing are just a few of the things that make Nathan Serrano a very talented Student.

"Music and writing are what live inside me. It helps me be aware of my surroundings in a different way. If you pay close attention, everything around you can sound like music, you just need to be aware of it. Being able to write about it, is a great feeling. Music makes me look at the world through a different perspective."

Nathan has many favorite memories like listening to music with his family. "I have to say that memories of spending time with my family, listening to music at home or in the car is my favorite one. Music brings us together in a way that I cannot describe. Times playing football, baseball and soccer at school with my friends are also memories I love."

Nathan’s favorite school subject is Math. "I want to be the best architect one day and math will be very important. I love numbers."

Nathan has other creative passions in addition to music and writing. He loves drawing, playing video games especially Apex Legends and Swimming. "I love swimming. I have made the Swimming Team at school!"

Nathan hopes to one day earn a music scholarship that will help him continue playing saxophone and piano and maybe one day help others learn to play and love these instruments as much as he does. "I am very happy to be a student at Charter Oak Cultural Center, because it has helped me be a better saxophone player and piano Player as well as a writer. My time here has expanded my interest and knowledge to what I love, and I hope that one day I can help others find what I have found here."
