Elijah Hines participates in Neighborhood Studios' music program in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He's a junior in high school and has been playing the guitar since elementary school.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Who nominated you? How long have you been playing your instrument?

My name is Elijah Hines and I've been playing guitar since the 3rd grade. I was chosen by my former elementary school, Beardsley Elementary, to participate in the KEYS program which gave me the opportunity to learn the guitar. I have been playing ever since. The teacher who nominated me is Luisa Guzman. She is an amazing art teacher and is also the Conservatory Director at Neighborhood Studios.

What has music and your program taught you?

Music has taught me the value of being patient and being persistent.

What is your favorite piece of music to play?

Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder

What do you like to do for fun? Do you have any hobbies?

I like to play a variety of instruments. I like to play sports and to hang out with my friends.

What is your favorite subject in school? Why?

I enjoy science class because I like to understand the things around me.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan on either going to trade school or going to music school. One of my plans is to go on tour as a guitarist with an RNB artist.
