Cara Woodard is our Music Student of the Month! Cara is a 7th grader in the Soleil Music and Arts Chamber Group and the School of Rock Summer Creek program. She plays the violin and drums.
My mom, Michelle Woodard, nominated me. I have been playing violin for six years and drums for one year.
Music has taught me how to work toward my goals with patience. It has also taught me that I can do hard things well with time and practice.
My favorite song to play on the violin is The Entertainer by Scott Joplin. My favorite song to play on the drums is Toxicity by System of a Down.
For fun, I like to write, draw, read and play video games. I am also a Girl Scout and I love doing things with my Girl Scout sisters.
My favorite subjects in school are math and language arts. I like math because I like thinking critically, which is a prerequisite to enjoying the subject. I like language arts because reading books is something I enjoy, and writing is an added bonus to reading because I love practicing my writing skills and learning new techniques.
I want to be a forensic pathologist in my career. In the near future I am hoping to survive middle school and attend The Lawrenceville School for high school.
