8 year-old Kairos Mpanga is our Music Student of the Month. This third grader plays piano and drums at Neighborhood Studios, a grantee of ours currently celebrating their 45th anniversary!

What has music and your program taught you?

My program has taught me how to play the instruments and read music notes. Reading full, half, and quarter notes is also learning Math.

What is your favorite piece of music to play?

Jingle Bells

What do you like to do for fun? Do you have any hobbies?

Besides playing drums and piano- I like playing soccer, video and computer games, swimming, and playing outside with friends.

What is your favorite subject in school? Why?

My favorite subjects are science and music. I learn how things work and are made. I get to research stuff and I also read facts on how animals live. In music, I get to sing and listen and learn about people who make music.

What are your plans for the future?

To be the greatest soccer player, become a great musician, and help teach other kids how to play music.
