12/3/2019 is #GivingTuesday

Black Friday. Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday. Give back this holiday season and support high-quality music education.

Giving Tuesday

Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Two days that have become synonymous with Thanksgiving. Two days where you spend your time shuffling through crowded malls or refreshing your Internet browsers to score major deals on big-ticket items.

But we all know that the holidays are about so much more than toys and appliances. They’re a time to enjoy the company of your family and friends and to be grateful for what you already have. More importantly, they’re a time to connect with your communities and give back to the people and organizations that have impacted you in some way. That’s how the idea of #GivingTuesday came to fruition.

What is #GivingTuesday?

Recognizing the importance of community involvement and charitable giving, a group from the 92nd Street Y in New York City launched a movement called #GivingTuesday in 2012. Always taking place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday celebrates the virtues of philanthropy and giving back. Now coming up on its seventh year, the #GivingTuesday initiative has turned into a worldwide movement that spans a wide breadth of groups and individuals.

When does #GivingTuesday take place?

#GivingTuesday always occurs on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. This year, it falls on Tuesday, December 3. The date is fast approaching, and we couldn’t be more excited. We enjoy taking part in an initiative that has such a large impact on a global scale, but we also love knowing that the money we raise on this day can provide an instrument to a local child or help a struggling family give music lessons to their son or daughter.

How to Donate on #GivingTuesday

We'll update this page with links to the donation form on #GivingTuesday. We'll also be announcing more details and unveiling exciting matches prior to December 3, so keep checking back as we get closer to that date.

Sometimes, Timing is Everything

At SpreadMusicNow, we want every child to share in the same joy of music that we do, and we are fortunate to work with some amazing partners who are as passionate about music education as we are.

If you want to support one of our featured partners, then be sure to give during the timeframes below. Every dollar donated within these timeframes will be given to those organizations to fund high-quality music education for underserved kids. Give once, or give multiple times - any amount is truly appreciated.

11am - 1pm: Charter Oak Cultural Center
1pm - 3pm: Music Haven
3pm - 5pm: PROJECT MUSIC
6pm - 8pm: INTEMPO

Or, donate on December 3 at any time, and your donation can help fund music education that not only teaches children how to play music, but also contributes to their overall development.

Like all of us at SpreadMusicNow, our partners understand how significant of an impact music can have on a child’s life. However, despite the many benefits of music education, music programs are often the first ones cut from schools during economic hardships. Organizations like the ones mentioned above help fill this void and provide children with ample opportunities to continue practicing music, even if their schools don’t offer music classes. We often hear from parents and children how grateful they are that these organizations exist because otherwise, music wouldn’t be a part of their lives.

Supporting Music Education After #GivingTuesday

As you know, #GivingTuesday doesn’t have to be the only time to donate to SpreadMusicNow. Donations in any amount are always welcome and very much appreciated throughout the year. Please visit our donation page at any time to donate.

Thank you for all of your support!
