She studies classical guitar at INTEMPO Music School, takes martial arts lessons at Stamford Martial Arts and Fitness, plays soccer at Stamford Youth Soccer and performs with an Anacaona Enrichment program. She was nominated as our Music Student of the Month by Angie Durrell, Founder and Executive Director of INTEMPO.
"She has great discipline with instrumental and choral music, dance and sports," says Angie. "Last summer, she served on our first youth hiring committee and voiced her opinion, which helped INTEMPO make a decision on hiring our next Audio Production and Choir instructors. Her music instructors and I see a bright future for Ayanna."
Ayanna can sing in both English and Haitian Creole and is a member of her school's choir. She has performed in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts at social and cultural events such as naturalization ceremonies, book festivals, and Martin Luther King’s Day celebration programs. One of her favorite pieces to play is Romance d’amour.
In 2018, the office of the Governor of Rhode Island awarded her a certificate of recognition for her artistic talents.
Ayanna enjoys reading and painting. Her favorite school subject is social studies because she likes being able to understand the world around her.
In the future, Ayanna plans to go to business school in order to become an entrepreneur.
