December Music Student of the Month

We are excited to wrap up 2018 with our December Music Student of the Month, Adrian Martin-Davis! At just 14-years-old, Adrian is already a very accomplished student and is actively involved in his community.

Adrian plays in the Hartford All-City Youth Orchestra at Charter Oak Cultural Center; Sinfonia, the advanced youth string orchestra at the Hartt Music School; and is in the band at his school, the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering. Initially starting out playing the violin in preschool, Adrian now also plays the viola and the cello and has recently been practicing the electric bass. His favorite styles of music are classical, jazz, and contemporary rock 'n' roll.

In addition to playing music, Adrian has recently become inspired to write his own music. He calls his first song the "Johnson Concertino" and wrote it in order to honor two important people in his life: his eighth-grade writing teacher and his grandmother, who unfortunately is no longer with us.

An active participant in his community, Adrian volunteers at the Charter Oak Cultural Center and teaches violin lessons to younger children. He is also a member of the Teen Advisory Council at the CT Science Center and is the Secretary for the Peer Mediation Club at his school.

Although Adrian dreams of pursuing a future career as an aerospace engineer, he intends to continue practicing his music. "I never want to give up music," he said. "That's one thing that I'm not going to do."

Keep dreaming big, Adrian! We know you will continue to achieve great things!
