Thank You For A Life-Changing Year!

A message from Co-Founder and Board Member, Richard Wenning.

How wonderful to begin 2015 with a feeling of gratitude. I'm so grateful for our supporters' commitment to providing underserved students with music education!

BeFoundation launched the SpreadMusicNow Fund to support music education in partnership with Fairfield County's Community Foundation last summer. Six months have passed and we are so thankful, humbled, and overwhelmed by the outpouring of interest and support among our ever-growing number of followers and donors.

Since our launch, we have:

• Provided 99 cents on the dollar to nonprofit music education organizations thanks to our partnership with Fairfield County's Community Foundation.
• Presented $176,000 in grants to arts education nonprofits serving some 15,000 children and youth in Connecticut across modern band, jazz, and classical genres.
• Raised $10,279 from 50 individual donors, aided by our new online fundraising capacity, which BeFoundation then matched, raising a total of $20,558 in additional resources.
• Launched our content celebrating music education across major social media platforms on behalf of SpreadMusicNow and its partners.

The experience of our first six months confirmed our belief that a grassroots effort combined with strong social media engagement could help "grow the pie" of philanthropic support for music and arts education.  Our individual donors are building a vital network of support for arts education--coupled with foundation and corporate support we can build a movement!

What's next?

In the next few months, we will work collectively with our arts education and philanthropic partners to leverage our resources and jointly support programs and services to build capacity to reach more students.  We will engage with more school districts to strengthen arts education offerings and work with state leaders to support a statewide initiative to close the gap in access to quality arts education.
